SEMARANG — The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro (FK Undip), hosted a guest lecture on “Analisis Masalah Kebijakan dan Program Kesehatan di Indonesia” (Analysis of Health Policy and Program Issues in Indonesia) on Monday, 17 November 2025. The session, held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Mayjen dr. R. Soewondo Sastrodiprojo Building, featured Dr. dr. Mochamad Abdul Hakam, Sp.PD, FINASIM, Head of the Semarang City Health Office, as the keynote speaker.
More than 304 medical students, along with faculty members and academic staff, attended the lecture, which aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of national and regional health policy challenges.
In his address, Dr. Abdul Hakam outlined key issues within Indonesia’s health system, including policy implementation barriers, national program priorities, and efforts to reinforce the country’s health system. He also detailed local public health problems in Semarang, covering communicable and non-communicable diseases, environmental concerns, and gaps in community health services.
He highlighted strategies adopted by the local government to tackle these challenges through cross-sector collaboration and emphasized the essential role of future healthcare professionals.
He urged students to contribute to improving public health through education, innovation, and community engagement.
The event was opened by dr. Santoso, M.Si.Med., Sp.N, Head of the Medical Study Program at FK Undip. A discussion session followed, giving students the opportunity to explore how health policies are formulated from the perspective of government practitioners. The session also aimed to develop students’ analytical skills in assessing Indonesia’s public health issues.
dr. Santoso noted that the lecture provided a valuable platform for bridging theoretical concepts with real-world policy implementation, reinforcing FK Undip’s commitment to producing competent and socially responsible medical graduates.
This guest lecture is part of the Faculty of Medicine Undip’s efforts to improve student competency and strengthen academic networks and strategic partnerships with government health institutions. It is also expected to strengthen the Faculty’s relationship with the Semarang City Health Office and open up opportunities for further collaboration in developing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the areas of education and community service.
