SEMARANG – The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro (FK Undip), continues to demonstrate its role in producing outstanding medical professionals through the achievements of its alumnus, Dr. dr. Dody Novrial, M.Si.Med., Sp.PA, who currently serves as Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Partnerships at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman.
As an Anatomical Pathology specialist, Dr. Dody focuses on cancer research, particularly in breast tumors and hepatobiliary digestive systems. His contributions include innovative studies on MicroRNA biomarkers for colorectal cancer prognosis, as well as the exploration of herbal-based compounds such as Andrographis paniculata (sambiloto) and Physalis angulata (ciplukan) as potential therapeutic agents.
Dr. Dody’s academic journey reflects the strong foundation built by the Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Diponegoro, where he completed all levels of his medical education, from undergraduate studies to a doctoral degree in medical and health sciences.
Beyond academic excellence, FK Undip also played a crucial role in shaping his leadership and professional character. During his student years, he was actively involved in student organizations, including serving as President of the Student Executive Board, which strengthened his leadership capacity alongside his clinical competence.
According to Dr. Dody, FK Undip’s strength lies in its dynamic academic environment, extensive clinical exposure through teaching hospitals, and the strong mentorship provided by faculty members. He emphasized that the residency training system at FK Undip effectively builds clinical independence and professional discipline.
“The academic environment at FK Undip encouraged us to think critically, stay adaptive, and focus on problem-solving. These are essential skills in today’s evolving medical landscape,” he stated.
He also highlighted the importance of adaptive medical education that integrates critical thinking, digital literacy, and complex problem-solving while maintaining ethical values and local identity.
