SEMARANG — The Diponegoro Surgical Mind Battle served as one of the main events commemorating the 45th Anniversary (Dies Natalis) of the Department of Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro (FK Undip). The event featured a scientific competition and a plenary session on Acute Abdomen, drawing participants from various medical institutions across Indonesia.
Head of the Surgery Study Program FK Undip, Dr. dr. Sigit Adi Prasetyo, Msi.Med, Sp.B, Subsp.BD (K), emphasized that the program not only presented a competition but also provided scientific education aligned with current clinical practice.
“Dalam sesi ini, peserta mendapatkan pemaparan terkait pendekatan diagnostik terkini, prioritas penatalaksanaan emergensi, serta tantangan klinis dalam mengenali tanda bahaya abdominal akut,” he stated on Tuesday evening (25/11/2025).
The final round was judged by three panelists—dr. Ahmad Fathi Fuadi, Sp.B, Subsp.BD(K); dr. Agoes Wibisono, Sp.BA; and dr. Fariz Eka Setiawan, Sp.BS—ensuring objectivity and high-quality assessment.
“Kompetisi berlangsung seru dan persaingannya sangat ketat,” said dr. Rafika Syah Putra, describing the intensity of the competition.
The event crowned dr. Hanif Nurrifqi (Undip alumnus) and dr. Alfian Akbar Dwi Agustian (Unimus alumnus), currently interns at RS Bhayangkara Tk. II Semarang, as the first-place winners.
Second place went to Fathiyah Hasna and Alya Mahadewi Khoirunnisa Zamroni (clinical clerks from Unissula), while third place was awarded to dr. Ardelina Claudia Hartanto (Unika Atma Jaya Jakarta alumna) and dr. Daniel Aryo Wibowo (Unika Soegijapranata alumnus).
Chair of the Department of Surgery FK Undip, dr. Edmond Rukmana Wikanta, M.Si.Med., Sp.B., Subsp.Onk.(K)., FINACS., FICS, expressed his appreciation for the successful event. He hopes the Diponegoro Surgical Mind Battle can continue as a platform for nurturing competent and adaptive future surgeons.
He also stressed the importance of scientific events in strengthening clinical reasoning, resilience, and readiness to face advances in surgical science.
Held at the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Diponegoro, the event delivered a vibrant academic competitive atmosphere. Participants included medical students and general practitioners from various regions, creating a meeting ground for young talents in the medical field.
The event was officially opened by the Head of the Department of Surgical Specialties FK Undip, dr. Sigid Kirana Lintang Bhima, Sp.FM(K). The Organizing Committee Chair, dr. Dhanny Candra Adiatma, noted that the participants came from 11 institutions: Universitas Diponegoro, Unika Soegijapranata, Unissula, RS Bhayangkara Tk. II Semarang, Unika Atma Jaya Jakarta, RSUD Pandan Arang Boyolali, UGM, Unimus, Universitas Tarumanagara, UII, and Unnes—reflecting strong enthusiasm toward an interactive and competitive surgical knowledge arena.
The event further underscored the commitment of FK Undip to continuously deliver excellent and adaptive medical education.
