The 5th of December, 2023. Diponegoro University Faculty of Medicine commemorates the pinnacle of academic success by naming three academics professor in their respective areas. Prof. Dra. Ani Margawati, M.Kes., Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Meidiana Dwidiyanti, S.Kp., M.Sc., and Prof. Dr. Diana Nur Afifah, S.T.P., M.Si, a lecturer from the UNDIP Faculty of Medicine, are the three professors.
Prof. Ani presented scientific information on “Efforts to Overcome Nutrition and Health Problems” on this occasion. Malnutrition, he explained, is the prevalence of stunting, wasting, and underweight, as well as micronutrient deficiencies caused by chronic malnutrition throughout the life cycle, particularly in women of reproductive age, pregnant women, nursing mothers, newborns, and toddlers.
Meanwhile, Prof. Meidiana spoke on “Mental Emotion Regulation for Health.” He emphasized that emotional control needs to be promoted in mental health services so that patients can be self-sufficient in dealing with mental diseases. “Stress, anxiety, and depression are common mental and emotional disorders in society,” he stated, adding that “this problem will lead to more serious mental disorders such as self-injury, suicide, and schizophrenia.”
Prof. Diana then presented her research titled “Utilization of Gembus Tempeh and Other Processed Soybeans as a Source of Nutritional Intake for Long-Term Health Improvement.” He claims that fermented indigenous foods such tempeh gembus contain bacteria that create fibrinolytic enzymes, which can aid in the prevention of cardiovascular disease. Aside from that, foods including protein, fiber, and isoflavones can assist women with hyperlipidemia and obesity improve their lipid profiles. Gembus tempeh also possesses antioxidant and antibacterial properties.
The appointment of these three Professors not only enhances the UNDIP Faculty of Medicine as an academic center of excellence, but also represents a significant step forward in the development of excellent human resources in the health sector. The appointment of this Professor also underscores the Faculty of Medicine’s commitment to raising academic and research standards at the national and international levels.
