SEMARANG – A team from the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Diponegoro (FK Undip) won a Silver Medal at the 5th International Youth Summit (IYS) 2026, organized by Universiti Putra Malaysia and Sentosa Foundation on May 30–31, 2026.
The award-winning team consisted of Naufa Nufail, Nandiya Putri Martasya, and Khoirunnisa Putri Arfalita Syah from the Medical Study Program, as well as Luthfian Vighesvara Alfinli and Racella Freda Passah from the Pharmacy Study Program. The team was supervised by dr. Ainun Rahmasari Gumay, M.Si.Med., AIFO-K, and Intan Rahmania Eka Dini, M.Sc., Apt.
The Silver Medal was awarded for their innovation titled “Bivibral Beats–Based Vibrotactile Neuromodulation Targeting Delta Oscillations: A Potential Adjunct to GABAergic Hypnotics in Sleep Disorders.” The technology utilizes vibration and rhythmic stimulation to support therapy for patients with neurological and psychomotor disorders.
The innovation was recognized for its strong potential to improve sleep quality while enhancing the effectiveness of accessible non-pharmacological therapeutic interventions. By integrating vibrotactile stimulation and neuromodulation principles, the technology offers a promising complementary approach to existing treatments for sleep disorders.
The International Youth Summit 2026 brought together young innovators from various countries to present ideas, research findings, and innovations aimed at addressing global challenges, particularly in the fields of health, society, and the environment. During the competition, the FK Undip team attracted the attention of the judging panel through its innovative approach that combines sensory technology and rhythmic modulation in patient rehabilitation.
The achievement reflects the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Diponegoro’s commitment to fostering impactful healthcare innovations that benefit society. The recognition is also expected to inspire members of the Universitas Diponegoro academic community to continue developing innovative solutions and contributing to global problem-solving through science and technology.
The International Youth Summit (IYS) is an annual program organized by Universiti Putra Malaysia and Sentosa Foundation.
