MALAYSIA – Ahmad Salman Faadhillah, a student of the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Diponegoro (FK Undip), won a Gold Medal and was named 1st Winner at the 5th International Youth Summit (IYS) 2026, organized by Sentosa Foundation in collaboration with the Centre of Entrepreneurial Development and Graduate Marketability (CEM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), on May 30–31, 2026.
The international competition, themed “Youth Contributions to Global Influence on International Policy Through Innovation,” served as a platform for young people to present innovative solutions to global challenges through research and impactful idea development. In the competition, Ahmad Salman Faadhillah developed an innovation that integrated several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
The project was developed in collaboration with a student from the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), reflecting an interdisciplinary approach that combined perspectives from health, environmental sustainability, and public policy.

During the preliminary stage of the competition, all participants presented scientific posters across nine subthemes. Through this presentation session, Salman’s project was awarded a Gold Medal in the Food category, securing his place in the final round.
In the final stage, participants presented their innovations before a panel of eight judges, competing for the top positions in the competition. Owing to the quality of the innovation, its relevance to pressing global issues, and an outstanding presentation performance, Salman was awarded the 1st Winner title after competing against more than 100 projects submitted by participants from various backgrounds.
This achievement demonstrates how interdisciplinary collaboration can generate innovative solutions that address contemporary global challenges. The success of Ahmad Salman Faadhillah also highlights the capacity of Indonesian students, particularly those from the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Diponegoro, to contribute to the development of strategic ideas that support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the international level.
The accomplishment is expected to inspire other students to actively engage in research, innovation, and meaningful contributions toward solving global issues through impactful projects that benefit society.(Public Relations of FK Undip/Saradita/Erman)
