International Health Collaboration: Guest Lectures on “Nursing Care in Kagoshima, Japan”
Semarang, March 5 2025 – In a move to strengthen international cooperation in the field of health, the Department of Nursing Science, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro, together with the School of Health Science, Faculty of Medicine, Kagoshima University, hosted a collaborative event. On February 24, 2025, from 13:30 to 15:50 WIB, guest lectures on the topic “Nursing Care in Kagoshima, Japan” were held at the fifth-floor auditorium of Department of Nursing Science building, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro and streamed online via Zoom.
The event featured two distinguished speakers from Kagoshima University and the Kagoshima Prefecture Nursing Federation:
- Rika Yatsushiro, RN, Ph.D
Representing the School of Health Science, Faculty of Medicine, Kagoshima University, she delivered a presentation on “Nursing on the Remote Islands of Kagoshima”. - Chihoko Tabata, RN, MSN
Serving as the Vice President of the Kagoshima Prefecture Nursing Federation, she presented on “An Overview of the Healthcare System in Japan”.
This event is part of a strategic partnership between Universitas Diponegoro and Kagoshima University. The collaboration is expected to yield several outcomes:
- Short-Term Outcome:
Implementation of a comprehensive nursing internship program at Kagoshima University in October, involving two students and one faculty member from Universitas Diponegoro. - Long-Term Outcome:
Preparation of students for future employment in Japan through tailored programs, including language courses and other professional development initiatives.
Through this event, both institutions aim to enhance the exchange of knowledge and expertise in nursing, thereby creating valuable opportunities for students and educators to develop global competencies. The collaboration serves as an innovative model for international cooperation in healthcare, ultimately contributing to the improvement of health services in both Indonesia and Japan.
