CHIBA, JAPAN – Two residents of the Cardiology and Vascular Medicine Residency Program at the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Diponegoro (FK UNDIP), dr. Ega Lawalata Yolanda, M.Biomed and dr. Helena Ayatasya Kusuma Cantika, presented three cardiovascular studies at The 32nd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation (JACR) 2026 – Asia Prevent Session, held at Makuhari Messe, Chiba, Japan, on July 18–19, 2026.
The three studies addressed issues in cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation, ranging from the fitness capacity of patients with angina pectoris to the clinical profiles and outcomes of female patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Their presentations at the international forum were part of efforts by FK UNDIP Cardiology and Vascular Medicine residents to develop research based on clinical experience gained during their training at RS Kariadi Semarang.
During the oral presentation session, dr. Helena presented a study titled “Handgrip Strength Predicts Fitness Capacity Independently of BMI in Patients with Angina Pectoris: A Single-Center Study in Indonesia.” The study examined the ability of handgrip strength to predict fitness capacity in patients with angina pectoris.

Meanwhile, dr. Yolanda presented a study titled “Multidimensional Determinants of Exercise Capacity in Patients Undergoing Treadmill Test” during the moderated poster session. The study is part of an independent treadmill testing registry developed by the FK UNDIP Cardiology and Vascular Medicine Residency Program team to identify various factors associated with patients’ exercise capacity.

Penelitian lain yang dipresentasikan dr. Helena melalui sesi moderated poster berjudul “Age-Dependent Disparities of Clinical Profile and Outcomes in Women with Acute Coronary Syndrome: An Insight from Central Java, Indonesia”.

“We received a great deal of input from the panelists, and this has given us confidence that there is room for future research using the latest modalities to improve patient care,” added dr. Helena.
The achievement was supported and guided by dr. RR. Hari Hendriarti Satoto, SpJP, Subp. P.R.Kv.(K), FIHA, FAPSC, AIFO-K, CRFC, who encouraged the residents to develop their interests and expertise in cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation through various national and international scientific forums.
The participation of dr. Yolanda and dr. Helena in JACR 2026 – Asia Prevent Session was also supported through the Students Go International (SGI) World Class University (WCU) program of Universitas Diponegoro, which supports the development of residents’ academic capabilities and global professional networks.
