FK UNDIP Holds Guest Lecture on Aneurysm Clipping with Dutch Neurosurgeon Prof. Rob J.M. Groen, MD, PhD.

SEMARANG – The Neurosurgery Study Program, Faculty of Medicine Universitas Diponegoro (FK UNDIP), held a guest lecture titled “Aneurysm Clipping” on Friday, September 25, 2026. The event was part of the Semarang Neurosurgery Week 2026 series.

Held at the Training Building of RSUP Dr. Kariadi Semarang, the guest lecture was attended by lecturers, neurosurgeons, residents, and students of FK UNDIP.

Prof. Rob J.M. Groen, MD, PhD, a cerebrovascular neurosurgeon from the Netherlands, delivers a presentation during the “Aneurysm Clipping” Guest Lecture organized by the Neurosurgery Study Program, FK UNDIP, on Friday, September 25, 2026.

The guest lecture featured Prof. Rob J.M. Groen, MD, PhD, a cerebrovascular neurosurgeon from the Netherlands, as the main speaker. Also serving as speakers were Prof. dr. Muhammad Thohar Arifin, PhD, PAK, Sp.BS, Subsp.N-Vas(K), and dr. Krisna Tsaniadi Prihastomo, Sp.BS. Meanwhile, Yustinus Robby Budiman Gondowardojo, M.D., and Mustaqim Apriyansa Rahmadhan, M.D., presented a neurosurgical case.

 

Prof. dr. Muhamad Thohar Arifin, Ph.D, Sp.BS(K) memaparkan materi Fundamentals of Microsurgery and Principles of Microvascular Anastomosis dalam kuliah tamu dan workshop yang diselenggarakan FK UNDIP.

 

In his remarks, Dean of FK UNDIP Prof. Dr. dr. Yan Wisnu Prajoko, M.Kes., Sp.B., Subsp.Onk(K), emphasized that the event aligns with the faculty’s development direction, which is committed to strengthening academic excellence, international collaboration, and the continuous advancement of medical education and clinical practice.

According to Prof. Yan Wisnu, the first presentation, titled “Current Treatment of Intracranial Aneurysms,” addressed an important field that continues to evolve through advances in microsurgical techniques, endovascular technology, imaging, and multidisciplinary decision-making.

“These advances continue to transform the landscape of patient care. Therefore, we greatly value the opportunity for our lecturers, neurosurgeons, residents, and students to learn directly from Prof. Groen’s expertise and international perspective,” he said.

 

dr. Krisna Tsaniadi Prihastomo, Sp.BS(K) membawakan materi Microsurgical Instrumentation, Operating Microscope Setup, Ergonomics, and Suture Materials dalam workshop Microvascular Anastomosis di Gedung Diklat RS. Kariadi Semarang, Jumat (25/9/2026).

Following the guest lecture, the event continued with a Microvascular Anastomosis workshop, a microsurgical procedure involving the reconnection of two small blood vessels to restore normal blood flow. During the workshop, participants practiced the technique using chicken meat as a training medium.

 

Peserta mengikuti sesi hands-on Microvascular Anastomosis Workshop menggunakan mikroskop bedah untuk berlatih teknik mikrosurgeri, bagian dari rangkaian Semarang Neurosurgery Week (SNW) 2026 yang diselenggarakan FK UNDIP.

 

Through this guest lecture, FK UNDIP hopes that lecturers, neurosurgeons, residents, and students will deepen their understanding of intracranial aneurysm management while strengthening academic networks with international partners. The event is also expected to contribute to FK UNDIP’s ongoing efforts to advance medical education and clinical practice, particularly in the field of neurosurgery. (Humas FK UNDIP)
