SEMARANG – The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro (FK Undip) officially commenced the Orientation Program for New Students (PKKMB) for the Master’s and Doctoral Programs for the 2026/2027 Academic Year on Tuesday (August 11, 2026). Held over two days, the program serves as both a welcoming ceremony and an orientation to familiarize new students with the academic system, the postgraduate learning environment at FK Undip, and the core values of the university’s Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
The opening ceremony was led by the Dean of FK Undip, Prof. Dr. dr. Yan Wisnu Prajoko, M.Kes., Sp.B., Subsp.Onk(K), who introduced the faculty leadership and academic staff who will guide the students throughout their postgraduate studies. In his welcoming remarks, Prof. Yan expressed his appreciation to the new students and their families for placing their trust in the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro, as the institution where they will pursue their postgraduate education.
“Welcome, and congratulations on becoming part of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro family,” he said.
In the even semester of the 2026/2027 Academic Year, FK Undip welcomed 47 new postgraduate students, comprising 9 students in the Doctoral Program in Medicine, 16 in the Master’s Program in Biomedical Sciences, 8 in the Master’s Program in Nutrition, and 14 in the Master’s Program in Nursing Science.
According to the Dean, pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree is not merely about earning an academic qualification. Postgraduate education represents a stage of intellectual growth that fosters scientific advancement, critical thinking, research, innovation, and the development of academic character capable of addressing real-world challenges.
He encouraged all new students to pursue a greater purpose throughout their studies. In his view, the fundamental question of why one chooses postgraduate education should be answered with a commitment to contributing to society, the nation, and the country through the advancement of knowledge.
“We must cultivate an academic culture that is driven by societal benefit. The true measure of success is not merely individual achievement, but the extent to which our knowledge creates a positive impact on society,” he emphasized.
He also highlighted Indonesia’s ongoing challenge of developing high-quality human resources, stressing the need for graduates who excel not only academically but also demonstrate integrity, leadership, and social responsibility. He encouraged students to make the most of their postgraduate journey by strengthening their competencies, producing high-quality scientific publications, conducting research that offers practical solutions to societal issues, and expanding academic collaborations at both the national and international levels.
Beyond academic excellence, Prof. Yan underscored the importance of character development throughout students’ time at Universitas Diponegoro. He emphasized that the academic values cultivated within the university should not remain theoretical concepts but should become an integral part of every graduate’s professional identity.
“Graduates of the Master’s and Doctoral Programs at FK Undip are expected not only to excel academically but also to become leaders who inspire others and bring about positive change in society,” he said.
Throughout the two-day orientation program, the new students received comprehensive briefings on the academic system, educational administration, research, study program governance, academic ethics, and student life within the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro. The program was designed to help them adapt to the academic environment while preparing them to undertake their studies independently, professionally, and with integrity.
