SEMARANG — The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro (FK Undip), welcomed an academic visit from MAN Insan Cendekia (IC) Palu City as part of efforts to broaden students’ understanding of higher education and to motivate them to pursue studies in the health sciences. The program, attended by 45 students along with accompanying teachers, took place at the FK Undip campus in Semarang.
The Head of MAN IC Palu City expressed appreciation for the warm reception from FK Undip. He stated that the visit was part of the school’s initiative to provide students with a real-world overview of university life, particularly for 10th and 11th grade students who are preparing for higher education.
He also hoped that the visit would not only serve as a learning experience, but also strengthen the relationship between MAN IC Palu City and FK Undip, while opening opportunities for broader future collaboration.
During the event, the Dean of FK Undip, represented by Ayu Rahadiyanti, S.Gz., MPH., introduced the profile of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro, as one of Indonesia’s leading medical faculties established in 1961. Currently, FK Undip manages more than 30 study programs spanning undergraduate, professional, specialist, and subspecialist levels.
Ayu Rahadiyanti, S.Gz., MPH., explained that at the undergraduate level, FK Undip offers five health-related study programs, all of which have achieved “Excellent” accreditation: Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Nutrition.
She also highlighted one of FK Undip’s key strengths, the implementation of Interprofessional Education (IPE). This program brings together students from various health disciplines in collaborative groups to address community health problems in an integrated manner. Through this approach, students are trained to develop teamwork skills early before entering the professional workforce.
The introduction to the Pharmacy Study Program was delivered by Widyaningrum Utami, S.Farm., Apt., M.Clin.Pharm. In her presentation, she explained that the Pharmacy Study Program at FK Undip, established in 2016, continues to develop and now includes a Professional Pharmacist Program with “Excellent” accreditation. Pharmacy students study various scientific fields, including Pharmaceutical Biology, Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Technology, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, which form the foundation for pharmaceutical development and services.
Meanwhile, Ayu Rahadiyanti, S.Gz., MPH., also introduced the Nutrition Study Program, which is recognized as one of Indonesia’s leading nutrition programs. She explained that Nutrition lecturers at Undip are actively producing internationally reputable scientific publications and continuously developing innovations in nutrition and public health. Graduates of the program have broad career opportunities in hospitals, the food industry, catering services, government institutions, and various other health-related sectors.
Information regarding medical education and admission pathways at FK Undip was delivered by dr. Ryan Halleyantoro, M.Biomed., Sp.Par.K., as Secretary of the Undergraduate Medical Study Program. In his presentation, he explained that medical education consists of an academic (bachelor) phase lasting approximately 3.5 to 4 years, followed by a two-year professional doctor program. After completing the professional stage and passing the Indonesian Medical Competency Examination (UKMPPD), graduates are required to undergo a one-year internship program before being eligible for independent medical practice.
dr. Ryan Halleyantoro also outlined the various admission routes for new students at Universitas Diponegoro, namely the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP), the National Selection Based on Test (SNBT), the Independent Admission Test (UM), and the Outstanding Student Selection (SBUB). The SBUB pathway provides opportunities for prospective students with achievements in sports, arts, scientific work, Qur’an memorization, or organizational leadership.
In addition, FK Undip also offers the International Undergraduate Program (IUP), which uses English as the medium of instruction and provides students with opportunities to participate in international collaborations with partner universities abroad.
The activity took place in an interactive atmosphere through discussion and Q&A sessions. Students from MAN IC Palu City showed high enthusiasm by asking various questions related to university admission processes, opportunities for achievement-based admission pathways, community service activities of FK Undip students, as well as the preparation needed to pursue a career as a medical doctor or other healthcare professionals.
As a closing session, a souvenir exchange was conducted between representatives of FK Undip and MAN IC Palu City as a symbol of friendship and institutional collaboration.
