SEMARANG – The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro once again demonstrated its commitment to producing outstanding medical professionals through the achievement of dr. Mega Pandu Arfiyanti, who earned a perfect Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.00 as the top graduate of the Clinical Microbiology Specialist Medical Education Program (PPDS) in April 2026.
The achievement not only reflects academic excellence, but also highlights the quality of the university’s integrated medical education system, which combines theoretical learning, laboratory practice, and clinical application within a supportive and collaborative academic environment.
Dr. Mega expressed her gratitude for the accomplishment, describing it as the result of a long and challenging journey supported by her family and guided by dedicated lecturers.
“Becoming the top graduate is not merely about grades, but about sincerely going through the process. Hard work never betrays the results,” she told the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro on Wednesday (April 29, 2026).

During her studies, dr. Mega Pandu Arfiyanti faced various challenges, including pursuing specialist medical education at the age of 35 while experiencing pregnancy and fulfilling her role as a mother amid demanding academic responsibilities. However, those experiences ultimately shaped her resilience, discipline, and strong time-management skills.
Throughout her educational journey, Dr. Mega considered the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro to have a major strength in its learning system, which encourages critical thinking and interdisciplinary collaboration. She also highlighted the absence of a rigid seniority culture, creating an open and conducive learning environment.
“The academic environment at FK Undip (Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro) is highly supportive. The relationships between lecturers, seniors, and residents are well-established, making the learning process more comfortable and enjoyable,” she explained.

The role of lecturers as mentors also became a key factor in shaping competence and professionalism. Beyond providing academic instruction, lecturers offered direct guidance and served as role models in clinical practice.
The clinical experience she gained, including internships at Dr. Kariadi General Hospital (RSUP), the primary teaching hospital, and networked hospitals such as Diponegoro National Hospital (RSND) and Rembang Regional General Hospital (RSUD), provided a deeper understanding of the strategic role of clinical microbiology specialists in healthcare services. Furthermore, dr. Mega Pandu Arfiyanti was directly involved in laboratory result interpretation, clinical discussions, as well as Infection Prevention and Control (PPI) and Antimicrobial Resistance Control Program (PPRA) initiatives.
“The experience allowed me to fully understand the comprehensive role of clinical microbiology, not only in the laboratory but also in clinical decision-making,” she added.
Through this achievement, the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro reaffirmed its role as a medical education institution that not only produces graduates with outstanding academic performance, but also professionals prepared to face global healthcare challenges.
In closing, Dr. Mega shared a message for general practitioners who aspire to pursue specialist education, encouraging them to remain consistent, courageous in learning, and committed to enjoying every stage of the educational journey.
“This journey is certainly challenging, but incredibly rewarding. With such a supportive environment, FK Undip (Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro) is the right place to grow into a competent and principled medical specialist,” she concluded.
