THAILAND — The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro (FK UNDIP), in collaboration with the Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University, Thailand, held a joint program titled “Strengthening Health Care Services in Community-Based Care” from September 22 to 26, 2025, in Thailand.
The program served as a strategic initiative to enhance international partnerships and broaden the perspectives of FK UNDIP’s postgraduate nursing students in community-based health care.
The program began with a welcoming ceremony and participant introductions, followed by a series of academic lectures discussing Thailand’s health profile, its modern health care system, and contemporary public health practices. Participants also explored Thailand’s approaches to maternal and child health, adolescent pregnancy prevention, and the vital role of community health nursing in improving public health outcomes.

The program “Strengthening Health Care Services in Community-Based Care”, held from September 22–26, 2025, was a collaboration between the Faculty of Medicine, Diponegoro University and the Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University.
Beyond classroom sessions, the postgraduate nursing students from Universitas Diponegoro engaged in field visits to Bueng YiTho Medical and Rehabilitation Center, where they observed community-based elderly care practices, and to Ratchaphiphat Hospital, where they learned about urban health services and palliative care practices.
Subsequent academic sessions introduced participants to the life-course approach in family health nursing and provided an overview of occupational health nursing, offering a more holistic understanding of nursing care across various stages of life.
The five-day program concluded with a reflection and evaluation session, followed by a certificate presentation and discussion session aimed at reinforcing future academic and research collaboration between Universitas Diponegoro and Mahidol University.
Through this program, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro students gained valuable cross-cultural experiences and firsthand insights into Thailand’s community health system. The initiative also strengthened both institutions’ commitment to improving community-based health services in Indonesia.(*)
