JAPAN – To complement the ongoing discourse on the impact of mercury exposure on public health, the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro (FK Undip) has deepened its technical understanding of laboratory analysis through participation in the Practical Seminar on Mercury Analysis in Minamata, held on September 30, 2025. In this program, Dr. Muflihatul Muniroh, M.Si.Med., Ph.D., and Dr. Saekhol Bakri, M.P.H., Ph.D., represented the Center of Clinical Toxicology and Environmental Health (CCTEH), Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro, in a workshop organized by Nippon Instrument Corporation (NIC) and hosted at the Minamata Environmental Academia, Minamata City, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan.

Dr. Muflihatul Muniroh, M.Si.Med., Ph.D., and Dr. Saekhol Bakri, M.P.H., Ph.D., representing the Center of Clinical Toxicology and Environmental Health (CCTEH) of the Faculty of Medicine, Diponegoro University, participated in a workshop organized by Nippon Instrument Corporation (NIC) at the Minamata Environmental Academy in Minamata City, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan.
This activity provided an in-depth understanding of mercury analysis methods using NIC instruments, which are highly relevant to strengthening environmental toxicology research capacity in Indonesia. Currently, CCTEH FK Undip has been equipped with a Mercury Analyzer, one of NIC’s flagship products, making FK Undip one of the leading reference centers for mercury level analysis in Indonesia. To continuously enhance the quality of research and mercury testing services, improving laboratory analytical skills according to international standards is essential. This program also served as a strategic step to strengthen collaborative networks between FK Undip and research institutions in Japan, particularly in the fields of environmental health and toxicology. FK Undip expresses its highest appreciation to Nippon Instrument Corporation and Minamata Environmental Academia for their support and hospitality throughout the program.
Complementing the discourse on the impact of mercury on public health, FK Undip further deepened the technical aspects of laboratory analysis by participating in the Practical Seminar on Mercury Analysis in Minamata. On September 30, 2025, dr. Muflihatul Muniroh, M.Si.Med, Ph.D., together with dr. Saekhol Bakri, MPH, Ph.D., representing the Center of Clinical Toxicology and Environmental Health (CCTEH) FK Undip, attended the workshop organized by Nippon Instrument Corporation, held at Minamata Environmental Academia, Minamata City, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan.

This event provided in-depth understanding of mercury analysis methods using NIC instruments, which is relevant to the development of environmental toxicology research capacity in Indonesia. Currently, the CCTEH FK Undip already has a Mercury Analyzer, one of NIC’s flagship products, making FK Undip one of the main references for mercury testing in Indonesia. Of course, to continuously improve the quality of research and services in mercury testing, it is necessary to enhance skills in mercury laboratory analysis techniques that comply with international standards.(*)
