The Faculty of Medicine was visited by SMAN 1 Cilegon on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. The purpose of this visit was to spark students’ interest as potential students at the Faculty of Medicine (FK) Diponegoro University (UNDIP).
The event opened with statements from the principal of SMAN 1 Cilegon, who expressed thanks for the chance for his students to visit one of their favorite colleges as guests. He hopes that these kids, particularly those in grade 11, will be admitted to the Faculty of Medicine because the preparatory time is still lengthy. He also expressed his appreciation for the faculty’s kind welcome. During this visit, 8 busses bringing kids from SMAN 1 Cilegon were present.
The dean, represented by Dr. Diana Nur Afifah, S.TP., M.Sc., then delivered a speech. She complimented them for their long travel to Semarang and expressed delight in being one of the city’s tourist attractions.
Following that, a question and answer session was held to address the kids’ concerns. Students inquired about the distinctions between the medical and nursing professions in the first question. The distinction, according to Dr. Ryan Halleyantoro, M. Biomed., Sp.Par.K., is in their separate tasks; physicians establish the patient’s diagnosis, while nurses are in charge of monitoring the care delivered. However, the notion of cooperation between the two is critical, with nurses serving as equal colleagues instead of helps to doctors.
Students also had inquiries about how long, where, and what they did. The koas program at UNDIP Medical Faculty lasts two years and is dispersed to various health institutions, including clinics and stations, under the supervision of professors. In the obstetrics and gynecology department, for example, they will perform delivery operations under the supervision of a doctor. Aside from that, they will follow a routine at the Emergency Unit (ER) and the Emergency Room (IGD). FK UNDIP is home to two primary teaching hospitals, RSK and RSND, as well as a number of network hospitals. Aside from that, they will go through stages in community health centers and primary care clinics before graduating from the medical school.
